Fulbright Nehru Fellowships for Masters studies in US

The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships for leadership development are designed for outstanding young Indians to pursue a Master’s degree programme at selected US colleges and universities in the areas of arts and culture management including heritage conservation and museum studies, business administration, communication studies, conflict resolution, economics, environment, public administration, urban and regional planning and women’s studies. The fellowship will provide J-1 visa support, round-trip airfare from fellows home city to the host institution in the US, funding for tuition and fees (USIEF funding may not cover all costs), living and related costs, and accident and sickness coverage as per US government guidelines. These fellowships are for one to two years.
Requirements: Completed the equivalent of a US Bachelor’s degree, from a recognised Indian university with at least 55% marks. Applicants should either possess a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a completed Master’s degree, if the Bachelor’s degree is of less than four years’ duration; have at least three years’ full time (paid or voluntary) professional or work experience relevant to their proposed field of study; demonstrate experience in leadership and community service; should not have another degree from a US university or be enrolled in a US degree programme; and preferably be in the age group of 25-30 years and committed to return and contribute to their communities

US Scholarship for Indian teachers

Providing international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, and enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. ILEP will consist of a semester-long academic programme at a US university, including coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, teaching strategies for their home environment, teacher leadership, as well as the use of computers for Internet, word processing and as tools for teaching. It will also include an internship at a secondary school to engage participants actively with the American teachers and students. The fellowship provides J-1 visa support; a pre-departure orientation held in participant’s home country; round-trip airfare to and within the US; a welcome orientation in Washington, DC; academic programme fees; housing; accident and sickness insurance; a daily allowance for meals and incidentals during the university academic programme; a book/ professional development allowance; a closing seminar in Washington, DC; an excess baggage/ shipping allowance; and the opportunity to apply for collaborative grants with US colleagues. Secondary-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom experience in disciplines including English as a foreign language; social sciences; math; or science; living and teaching in the states of Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra and all Union Territories in the West. They must be citizens of India and be present in India at the time of submitting the application and for the interview; be proficient in written and spoken English with a TOEFL score of 500 or more.
